Studio Update

11-05-2008

Here some news from the Studio :

Bass, guitars, drums and vocals lines are recorded. Stephan is executing a gorgeous work on the orchestrations and guitar solos should be done next week. At the same time, Kevin is recording his keyboards solos and pianos parts in his studio. Both of them will begin the mix very soon (next week).

21 June : Reunion Island (close to Madagascar) + Stephan and Eric's Masterclass.

3 July : Castle Festival in Serbia

25 July : Blue Bitch (Beach ;)) Festival in Châteauneuf les Martigues (close to Marseille).

And last but not least, on June 10 th, the band will start shooting the first Adagio clip for the song Fear Circus, one of the major song of the upcoming Archangels In Black album..

New Adagio singer

We are please to announce that finnish singer Christian Palin is now officially the new singer of Adagio.
The band is at the moment in studio, here's a message from Stéphan:
We are all very glad to have Chris now on board , he is an incredible vocalist and an awesome ball of energy. We have already started to work together one month ago, and we will start the vocals recording on April 24th. Drums, Bass and guitars are finished, and we expect the cd to be totally done, mixed and mastered, for May 20th.
So far the guitar sound is incredibly heavy, and we feel that Archangels In Black is about to be a fuckin heavy album !!!

Adagio Confirmed for Serbia's Castle Festival alongside Judas Priest, Helloween

Adagio has been confirmed for Serbia's Castle festival in Smederevo on July 3rd 2008.

November issue of young guitar magazine is now out in Japan featuring #2 of Stéphan's monthly column "Licks From Darkness"

End of Dominate tour - Back from shows with Kamelot

Here is a message from Stéphan :

"Hi there, well that’s it, last week we played our last show for Dominate album, and now it’s time to finish Archangels In Black. This tour has been awesome for Adagio, with very huge moments like touring in Japan for the first time and playing Tunisia again along with Firewind and After Forever.
A new chapter is starting now and that means next tour will be totally different, and will probably start around April/may 2008 for the release of Archangels In Black.
I would also like to take the opportunity of this message to thank Thomas and Kamelot for their great kindness during the last shows we did together, they are incredible guys, awesome  performers on stage and very talented musicians. They have treated us like very few bands does, and we sincerely wish them lots of fun for their actual japanese tour with Firewind.Hope to share the stage with you guys again very soon !!"

JAPANESE tour without Gus :(((

Here is a message from Stéphan :

"Hi there Adagierz,

Just arrived back from Japan where we played three shows, did some promo and had lots of fun....
Unfortunately, I didn't have time to make an official announcement before leaving and when I arrived I received lots of emails asking if Gus was still the singer of Adagio.
So First of all, and before anything else: OF COURSE !!!!!!!!!! Gus is still the singer and forever will be the 5th Archangel in Black !!!!!! What happened is one week before our departure for Tokyo, we learnt that his visa has been refused from Japanese embassy in Brazil and that he could not make it. We were devastated...
So Gus proposed us to ask his great friend Kelly Sundown Carpenter (ex-Beyond Twilight, Outworld) to replace him for those shows. It was first not that easy for us, as Gus is the singer, and doing a tour without your friend is quite .....weird. But he said, (and he was right) that we had to go there and kick ass, in order to go again next time with him. So our manager called Kelly, who had to learn the songs very quick, and he rejoined us directly in Tokyo on Sept 11th.We didn't had time to rehearse with him at all, so first reharsal was.....the show in Tokyo !!!! Kelly did a great great job, has a very powerful voice and a great technique, and has been a very cool and funny friend.
Also we had a loooooot of fun with the Korpiklaani guys, though it has been very difficult to beat them at the "drinking game" lol. We would like to thank all the fans there for their wonderful welcome, our japanese promoter Avex and our record company in Japan Avalon Marquee for their incredible work and kindness, and the Korpi dudes for being so cool.Of course, we would like to thank our buddy Kelly for his great talent, and for his huge help on this one, we had a lot of great fun with ya ...Arigato gozaimasu brother !!!

ADAGIO to tour Japan in September + New dates confirmed

For the first time Adagio will play Japan in September.The band will tour with finnish metal band Korpiklaani. Tour dates as follow:
Sept 12 – TOKYO – Club Quattro
Sept 13 – NAGOYA – Club Quattro
Sept 14 – OSAKA – Club Quattro
The band will stay in Japan from 11th until 19th, a promo schedule is planned during those days. Some new headlining shows have also been confirmed in France, Tunisia and Portugal, check out the tour section for more info. Some new shows are being booked for October/November in Europe and will be announced soon.

Stéphan Forté and Marty Friedman in Paris

Stéphan and Marty met during Marty Friedman last solo tour date in Paris, and played together in the afternoon for almost two hours.(Check out picture here) Stephan says: "Marty is a very very cool person, very humble, and of course an awesome musician, we jammed together over some old Cacophony stuff such as "Black Cat", "Ninja" and of course some stuff from Megadeth's Rust In Peace: "Lucretia", "Holy Wars" and so on.... Marty's improvisation was absolutely insane, every solo sounded like a wonderful story, full of sensibility and huge melodies" A private lesson will be issued in Guitarist Magazine in the months to come...

Stéphan Forté DVD shoot for Hugues & Kettner in Germany

"Archangels In Black" preproduction finished!!

13-10-2006 : Demo of the next album !

Adagio has just finished the preproduction of their 4th album "Archangels In Black". The demo features four songs. The overall vibe is very dark and massive, the band came back to a more orchestral style of composition but kept the heavyness of songs like "Dominate" or "Children Of the Dead Lake" from the previous album released in 2005 in Japan (check out those songs at the Adagio myspace page.
The name of the four songs are :"Archangels In Black", "Undead", "The Fear Circus" and "Twilight At Dawn". About the album Stephan Forté says:" This album is a sort of tribute to dark arts, including horror movies and gothic litterature, it's our own musical representation of what Darkness is. I think the song "Archangels In Black" would be a cool hymn for all those of us who enjoy sinister arts "
Adagio will enter in studio in December.

"Archangels In Black" is the name of the upcoming Adagio album. Most of the songs are written. The album will feature 9 songs + 1 for Japan.As previously announced by the band, the compositions are the ultimate balance between melodic and extreme metal and can be considered as a more brutal vision of "Underworld"

Recording sessions will start beggining of October. More news soon...

On June 22nd, tickets for the Adagio show in Paris Elysée Montmartre on June 29th were almost sold out. The show will be filmed and a dvd is announced.
